The New York Yankees, you either love them or hate them. There’s even been a few t-shirts made with sayings like “God Hates the Yankees” or “Even Jesus Hates the Yankees”. While that may or may not be true, there is no denying that ESPN loves the Yankees. They were shockingly on Sunday Night Baseball again playing the Texas Rangers.
While looking at the radar early in the game, I noticed some strong echoes showing up west of the Stadium. Then around the 4th inning there was a loud reaction from the broadcast booth when a giant flash of lightning struck nearby. You could hear a loud crack of thunder through the tv and fans rushed for cover. While ESPN didn’t get a shot of the lightning, Twitter came to the rescue once again.
Here is an image I saw on twitter and tweeted by @barryap1 …..
While I’m obviously poking fun at the Yankees, it’s important to note how dangerous and unpredictable lightning can be. Glad nobody was hurt.
P.S. If you were at the game and saw it happen, can you confirm this is in fact a picture from tonight?
*****UPDATE: Check the first comment below debunking this photo. It was not from tonight. The interwebs are evil.
