Drew “Let Me Be Your Hero” Butera

The Twins had a game for the ages today in Philly.  Down 5 runs in the 9th, the Twins came back to tie the game on Joe Mauer’s 2 run homer.  A homer that likely would have been an out in Target Field.  On Twitter I called the HR using the laws of the universe.  At that particular point Delmon Young was batting .305 and Mauer .303 which in the laws of baseball physics, isn’t supposed to happen.  Thus the call was quite simple.

I don’t think anyone could call the next HR in the game.  Drew Butera, a singles hitter, jumps on the first pitch and hits it into left field seats and I almost soiled myself.  I couldn’t believe a face on Mt. Hitmore could hit a HR and I was curious why he was pinch hitting in the first place considering his average looked like a pitchers.  He must have whispered into Gardy’s ear “Let me be your hero”.  His home run gave us the lead for a short bit but I can’t help but feel happy for the kid.  For all the crap I like to give him on this website, I’ll give credit where it’s due so congrats Butera oh, and congrats on catching Thome’s bomb out in the bullpen.  Wonder how many times that’s happen, bullpen player catches HR and PH HR later in the game?  Anyways what a win for the Twins and in true TTBB fashion I had to come up with some stupid attempt at humor for the event.

After only putting out singles his entire career, Butera finally released a CD today….

He softly whispers "Let me be your hero" in Gardy's ear. Thanks @forthelove_ for pic

And if you’re wondering what the hell that picture is I took it from this…..

    BWC,

Well done – way to “man up” and give credit where credit was due. I was at the Astros – Rangers “baseball” game on Saturday and had to whip my cellphone out when they posted the five spot in the ninth… BTW, the Astros are a very bad baseball team… too bad we don’t play them this year…

Rumor has it the Astros will eat some salary with trades. I’d take Oswalt.
